Guess who?

Guess which 2 of my kids will be needing glasses SOON?

We were sitting at church today on the last row. (Our favorite spot it seems) when one of the two brought up the fact that they couldn't see the numbers to the hymns at the very front of the chapel. We decided to conduct our own informal eye test right then and there on each child, and found another one that couldn't read them. Upon asking them if they had trouble seeing the boards at school, they responded Yes. Hmmmm, Why didn't they say anything about that before?

So, guess who??? Scroll down a little bit and I'll show you!

Yep, Keilani, the 12 year old, and yes, she is only 12!

And, Vivian, the 8 year old!

I had to get glasses when I was in 5th grade, and it was traumatizing to me. I still remember crying outside of the Primary room because I didn't want to go in wearing my glasses, and my parents were there, so I couldn't get out of that! At school, I would just get them out when I needed to see. I hated wearing them! Then, you get those headaches while wearing them sometimes. Glad I have contacts now!

But, my little niece Maeva just had to get glasses at 5 years old, and she's being a good example to my girls. They haven't said one negative word about it yet. I think they think it will be a COOL thing!

Off to call the insurance company and see if any of this is covered or if my bank account is going to suffer the consequences alone!

I was SO grateful to have sweet Keilani on the back row to look at yesterday. :) The nice thing about glasses now days is that they're trendy - Some people get them if if they don't need them! Your girls will look cute!

I had to get glasses when I was in second grade. I remember hating them like you. But there is something about the kids now a days. When I started teaching I was dreading having to take to kids for being mean to each other because of glasses. To my surprise all the other students didn't even care. They seem to be so much more excepting of everyone. I think your girls will look great in glasses. I hope your insurance has a plan.

There are so many cute glasses out there now adays. Real trendy fun ones. I agree with Jenn. The kids are way more accepting now than they were back in my day. Thank goodness!

I guessed Keilani because I have seen her squint; if I had known you didn't know I would have told ya!

5th grade was when I got glasses. The main thing I remember was that it was nice to be able to see the board at school. It was like a whole new world.

I understand the trama of glasses. Hannah recently started wearing them. It took her a little while to get used to keeping them on, but I know they help her a lot while at school. Knock on wood, but so far she has done a really good job of taking care of them. Lucky for you your girls a older and will probalby do great! Hannah get so many nice compliments on her glasses. Do you know that the bishop is an eye doctor (easier to spell then optomitrist???) If he is on your insurance it was nice to go to someone we all ready new. Good luck!

Dale will probably need glasses next year. I had him tested in September and he was borderline. But your girls are right, glasses can totally be cool! Let the girls pick them out -even if they cost more, it'll save you the hassle of trying to get them to wear them.

I got glasses when I was 12. I didn't mind all that much, but was very happy to switch to contacts. I remember in the car on the way home from picking up my glasses I was amazed that I could see the leaves on the trees from the car. LOL! I'm sure they'll do great with glasses.

I got glasses in 4th grade. It was exciting at first, but the novelty wears off quickly. My Brooklyn got glasses in 2nd grade (almost 2 years ago exactly) after her teacher walked her out to the car to inform me that Brooklyn was complaining of not seeing the board even while at the front row. Sure enough, glasses were prescribed. A year later, her eyes had changed so much (for the worse) she needed new lenses. Yikes! I guess it's just a matter of time before the other children's vision troubles come to light. With Darin's and my myopia, it's more a question of "when", not "if".

My daughter got hers a 3. They have way better glasses now than when we were kids too.
