Just wait until you see this list of books I've read. 2008 has definitely been the year of READING! Back in November I decided that I needed a new focus for the year 2009, and that is going to be the year of Health!
I'm sure I will still read just as many books, but I also want at the end of this year to be able to post just as great of accomplishments in our family of being HEALTHY. We're taking baby steps, first cutting out the junk food from our diet. Instead of ice cream on our list constantly, we can only have it once a week. Menu planning and an effort on my part to have dinners served by 6:00 pm every night. The kids input on things they would like to eat for snacks as long as they are healthy. Still need to catch that resolve to get to the gym but for now we are focusing on what goes into our bodies and what shouldn't.
So, onto my list of books read in 2008. I'll put in ITALICS my favorites! My goal was one a week, and I beat that! Compared to the year 2007 where I only read 23 books, this year I've read 67! Some of them were easy reads, but for the most part it was one novel a week.
(Edit, I am going to put how many stars I gave each book on a scale of 1-5)

Holy cats woman! So, in other words March was a great reading month and the rest were eh! :D
I think it is awesome that you read so many books. Way to go!
We also are hoping for a year of health. Me back on my feet! In the meantime.....I'm getting in a lot of good reading time. :D Right now reading the entire "Ladies No.1 Ladies Detective" series and really liking it. Have you read any of Gene Stratton's stuff? You'd love it! At least I think you would....then again, I loved "The Gurernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society" and you didn't so.....
I can't believe you read that much. That is just so awesome. I've never kept track of what or how many books I've read in a year. Might be fun to take note. I just may surprise myself.
Wow! That is awesome, I know who to go to with a book recommendation!
I think we are swapping goals here, while we are trying to be more healthy too, one of my resolutions is to get more reading in.
Oh Rachel, I loved the Guernsey book as well, but it was 4 out of 5 stars on my list and the only ones I highlighted were the 5 stars. There were lots there that were 4 stars and weren't highlighted. I've read the first 2 of The #1 Ladies Detective Agency, love them, and have the next one on my list of books to read. She made me LOL so many times the first time I read that book. She, meaning Precious, that's her name, right?
Sheree, yeah, I was just thinking about how your family last year really exemplified the living Healthy lifestyle. While I know I can't give up all sugars like you did, I do know we CAN eat healthier.
Hey! I'm trying to be more healthy too! Isn't Sheree inspiring? I love your 2008 book list btw. I've read (and love) almost all of your favorites of the year. You have great taste.
You go girl! I definitely read more books last year than the year before and my goal is to read more this year than last year, but I didn't come CLOSE to what you read! I'm going to have to choose from your list to pick the next books I'm going to read. I'm going for the 4's and 5's. :)
I gave Dave Ramsey's book 5 stars but that's because it is from my preferred genre of books and it has changed our lives as we have implemented it.
We definitely have different tastes in books, but I think it's because I'm a weirdo! I, too, have decided to read more books this year, but it's all non-fiction. (Weirdo!) I'm curious to see how I do in book group this year.
Adhis, I think that's because you read to learn and I read to getaway, LOL! Seriously, I like to learn when I read as well, but for me it is an escape. Just last night after a very long day, I was telling my husband, "I just need to sit down and read and not have to think anymore." So, it's sort of the intellectual version of tv watching :)
I can't believe how many books you've read. You read more books than a college student reads to get a bachelor. You should have a book degree, if there is such thing.
I've read a book lately that I'm sure you'd love: THE RED TENT by Anita Diamant. I'm still thinking about it and I'm uplifted just thinking about the story.
Marie,
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant is one of my favorite books, I have it on my bookshelf to keep! Beautifully written story!
