Remember this magazine?
It came out this January. I hadn't really watched Oprah in awhile, so hadn't noticed her weight gain. I picked up this magazine the other day at the library and I remember Oprah saying, in the year 2008, all of her magazine covers only showed her pictures from the waist up. She was making sure not to have any full body pictures. I don't know why she bothered, everyone saw her every day on tv anyways, lol.
But I could totally understand her problem with pictures of herself. I know the last few years, I'd see a picture of myself and think, "Oh, I look fine enough in that one" But the others...I'd just delete. I was conveniently avoiding the fact that the last few years I've gained 20-30 lbs. This is AFTER a decade of bearing children and gaining weight. The previous weight gain was justified, after all having children is for a higher purpose. But there's nothing GRAND about continuing to gain weight AFTER the children.
So, any advice for the woman who has NEVER dieted a day in her life? But of course I'm not going to go on a diet. I'm going to, "make a life change", as Ken likes to say it. I've ruled out HCG because there's no way I can not eat anything, lol. I like the idea of Weight Watchers, because you can still eat the foods you like, just in moderation. Also, the weekly meetings that keep you on the track. Ken thinks I could just do it myself with his help, and I wish that were true, but we both know I need a little outside push and shove! Who's up for the first shove?

I tried HCG and it didn't work at all for me. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. I've been a yo-yo dieter my whole life. I can get it off, I just can't keep it off.
You might try the Beck Diet Solution (it's a book). I used it a couple of years ago and lost about 20 lbs. I eventually gained it back because I didn't stick with the things I learned in the book. I need to start using it again...
I think Weight Watchers is an awesome program. I've seen a lot of my friends lose weight and keep it off that way. You can eat whole foods which I like. I also think it teaches so many things about portion size, etc that stick with you forever.
My personal favorite way to lose weight is by eating more fresh foods and just falling back in love with running. I don't have to watch the scale religiously, because I am motivated by the distance, the race, etc. I always see progress there. Sometimes with diets I'd get frustrated because I had to put SO much focus on eating, and not eating, that I'd want to give up if I didn't see good results consistently. Running takes the focus off of food and weight and into something fun and positive, and the weight naturally comes off. So that is my favorite way, and it really is a lifestyle thing.
::SHOVE!::
I've never dieted either.
You know me, I'd say drink lots of water, walk and lift weights daily, and start an Isagenix easy cleanse.
I'm a firm believer in Weight Watchers. I've been doing it for about 9 months and have lost just over 40 lbs. It is a "lifestyle change" for me, not a diet. I have learned so much about what i should be eating and doing to be healthy. And, I love Weight Watchers because I can still eat a Cafe Rio salad sometimes if I need to. You aren't restricted to certain foods, you get to choose what you eat, which really works for me.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do. :)
I tried e-diets once. You weigh yourself weekly and it helps you keep track of what you eat, it will even help you make up your diet. And it was cheaper than weight watchers. My MIL really like LA weight loss though.
I heard Bob Greene say years ago that the very first step someone should do to get healthier is START MOVING.
